Dear New Administrators,
We are pleased to welcome you to your new role as an administrator and invite you to participate in the 2023-2024 New Deans, Heads, Chairs & Directors Orientation Program. The program kicks off with a leadership panel and networking event on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 3:30 – 6:00 p.m. in the Richard J. Daley Library, Room 1-470.
The leadership panel and networking event is an opportunity to orient you to administrative life at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), as well as solicit advice from and ask questions of other UIC administrators. Attendance is strongly encouraged for those who are new to their administrative positions.
Panel: A Vision of Leadership at UIC
- This panel will speak about and help answer questions around characteristics of good leadership at UIC, important skills needed, communicating vision and goals, and navigating difficult decisions.
- Panelists: Karen Colley, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Wayne Giles, Dean, School of Public Health; Peter Nelson, Dean and Professor, College of Engineering; and Zizi Papacharissi, Distinguished Professor and Head, Department of Communication.
