New Faculty Orientation

Welcome to UIC!  The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs (VPFA) provides a number of resources of interest to faculty members, from the Faculty Handbook, New Faculty OrientationFaculty ResourcesMentoring, Mid-Probationary Review,  Promotion and Tenure reviews, and Mid-Career Writing Program, as well as conducting interviews and surveys with exiting faculty.

Beyond a faculty members time at UIC, the VPFA website also holds information for Emeriti Faculty and their engagement initiatives on campus. On the VPFA website, you’ll find links to valuable information like this and much more to navigate around your faculty career at UIC. Dear New Colleague and Member of the UIC Community:

It is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to the University of Illinois Chicago! We are delighted that you have chosen to join us, and we are glad that you are now a member of our engaged community of internationally recognized educators, scholars and researchers.

Welcome aboard!

To help with your introduction to all things UIC, we here in the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs have developed a number of resources to help you navigate the various facets of teaching and research at UIC.

  1. The New Faculty Orientation virtual course is designed to be a useful resource for you over the next several months.
    • We encourage you take advantage of its handy info right away, as it has links to many useful sites across campus. You can pick and choose from a menu of options.
    • Please contact for access to the NFO Course.
  2. In addition, you are invited to a warm UIC welcome from Chancellor Reyes, Provost Colley, Vice Chancellor Pallares, Assistant Vice Chancellor Mariscalco, and me, on Thursday, August 18, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., followed by a resource fair to learn more about UIC resources from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m., both in the Illinois Rooms in Student Center East. and the opportunity to network with colleagues at the Chancellor’s New Faculty Reception from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m., in the East and West Terraces of Student Center East.
