As a new Unit Executive Officer, you play an important role in establishing the culture and climate of your department. This session will build on New Administrator Orientation and explore practical strategies for creating a positive, inclusive, and collaborative departmental environment while navigating the inevitable conflicts and challenges that arise in academic leadership.

Participants will reflect on their own leadership and conflict styles, consider how different approaches can affect communication and relationships, and explore strategies for addressing conflict constructively. The session will also emphasize the role of clear communication, trust, transparency, and accountability in creating a healthy departmental culture.

Through reflection, peer discussion, and practical tools, participants will identify approaches they can use immediately to strengthen relationships, navigate difficult situations, and establish clear expectations within their units.

First-year UEOs will receive a calendar invitation with the Zoom link. To register, simply accept the invitation.
