Dear New Administrator,
We are pleased to welcome you to your role as an administrator and invite you to participate in the 2024-2025 New Deans, Heads, Chairs & Directors Orientation Program!
The program kicks off with a leadership assessment session, followed by a panel discussion featuring Provost Colley, concluding with a networking opportunity on Tuesday, September 10, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
This leadership-focused event is an opportunity to discover your leadership styles, orient you to administrative life at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), as well as solicit advice from dynamic and experienced UIC administrators. Attendance is strongly encouraged for those who are new to their administrative positions
Five Paths to Leadership Session: (3:00 – 4:00 p.m.)
This session, facilitated by Academic Impressions, will help you understand ways of achieving greater balance among the five forms of intelligence so that you can improve your overall effectiveness as a leader. Its intuitive and practical design will help leaders maximize personal effectiveness and adapt to and gain influence with others. Uniquely, the The Five Paths to Leadership℠ Self-Assessment tool also provides valuable insights into how your leadership changes under stress.
Panel: A Vision of Leadership at UIC: (4:00 – 5:15 p.m.)
This panel will speak about and help answer questions around characteristics of good leadership at UIC, important skills needed, communicating vision and goals, and navigating difficult decisions.
