Hananeh Esmailbeigi

Hananeh Esmailbeigi is a Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Since joining UIC in 2012, she has developed and implementing innovative courses that emphasize on hands-on skills for engineering and computer science students. Her innovative teaching methods have recived attention from news media outlets, and she has also been selected to participate in panels representing her work to White House representatives. In addition to her teaching accomplishments, her research is centered on advancing novel wearable medical and assistive technologies.

Birgit is a Clinical Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PSCi). After graduating from University of Heidelberg in Germany in 1995 as a licensed Pharmacist, she entered a graduate program at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zürich (ETHZ) in Switzerland and graduated as Dr. sc. nat. in 2000. After several years of postdoctoral research, she got a research faculty position at the UIC College of Pharmacy in 2006, was promoted to Associate Research Professor in 2013, and to Clinical Professor at PSci in 2021. For the past 20 years, she has focused her research on the development of alternative methods to classic bio-assay guided isolation of lead compounds and purity control in natural product research.

Edward Podsiadlik

Edward Podsiadlik

Department of Curriculum and Instruction
College of Education

Edward teaches in the Urban Elementary Teacher Education Program, and is Program Coordinator for the Instructional Leadership-Educational Studies Master’s program, and the Critical Pedagogies and Urban Teacher Education Ph.D. program. His other teaching recognitions include the UIC Teaching Recognition Program (TRP) (2022), and the Silver Circle Award (2018). Edward is author of three books: “Licensed to Transform: An Alphabet of Student Teaching” in 2021; “Grieving as a Teacher’s Curriculum: Relevant Prose and Postscripts” in 2020, and “Anecdotes and Afterthoughts: Literature as a Teacher’s Curriculum” in 2013. His research focus asks: To what extent are we being and becoming the educators (and individuals) we’ve aspired to be? In what ways does our public work align to our private values and beliefs? How do we as educators prioritize the lived experiences of our students, their families, and their communities?
