Pathways to Highly Prestigious Awards

many awards and fellowships lead to the achievement of highly prestigious awards.

The Association of American Universities (AAU) evaluates its members based on several key indicators, including external awards deemed "highly prestigious" by the National Research Council. As an aspiring member, UIC focuses on nominating faculty who are strong candidates for these highly prestigious awards, aiming to enhance the university's ranking and showcase its research and educational excellence.

The awards inside the accordions are those typically received before obtaining the highly prestigious award named on the outer label. The percentage next to each pathway award indicates the proportion of national recipients of the highly prestigious award who had previously earned that pathway award in the past five years.

For example, 18% of Rome Prize recipients had first earned a MacDowell Fellowship, while 12% had previously earned a USA Fellowship, and so on.
